Perionaut shifting into Grodo Totem
Grodo Pod

As I descended, there was an oscillating gleam, like a sunken light house. I directed myself to its source and found it to be an apparatus of spellbinding design.

Upon reaching the shore, I climbed onto the bay to study the device. Running my fingers across its pattern, I pressed into one of its many polygonal faces. Hearing a loud and satisfying click, and without warning, a torrent of energy swelled and encased my body, pulling me in. Looking down at my reflection in the wet sand, I had become something bizarre, but I  was overwhelmed with power and freedom.

Totems are Avatars.

For now, Totems are a mystery. Their story, and Peerions, will become

a narrative built on the best work, art, and consensus from the Peerion community.   A framework for games, comics and movies.

A Totem first looks like a hand held Pod the size of a 16 oz can.

The Totem pod will be a depiction of whats inside.

When a Totem is used by a Peerionaut, it will transform the peer

into that Totems full form, or Totem Shift.

A Totem Shift should be a character with a unique personality.

A Totem Shift doesn't have to be any particular shape, size or form,

as long as it looks mobile and battle-able, it can be accepted.

This Will Help You Win!

Value is the range of lightness and darkness within a subject.

Use value to create focal points and the illusion

of width, height, and depth.

Value is an easy and powerful way to highlight important parts of a Totem, generally what works best is dark by
the feet and lighter towards the top

Totem Value

Value Gradient

Value Pattern

Establishing contrasting blocks of space on a Totem will create visual interest, as well as help the human eye separate distinct elements of the subject, highlighting important features.

Following the value gradient, you can add more importance

to the torso area with high contrasting patterning,

and low contrast patterning towards the feet

Totem Pattern

Silhouette

For a Totem to be powerful, be mindful of its silhouette.  It should be readable and reinforce the Totems strength, speed, and demeanor. Simple shapes will create areas of rest and can help balance complicated shapes in other areas.

Color and Saturation - Less is More

Pick a primary color for your Totem, this will help you find the rest of the colors. Select the secondary and tertiary color by using complementary, split complementary, analogous, tetradic, or triadic color schemes.

Preserve color harmony while filling in the patterning by using blends of the original primary, secondary,

and tertiary colors along with gray scale values.

Try not to use colors that max out the R, G, or B values. Choose very small areas for the highest

saturation, as large areas of high saturation tend to overwhelm.

Once you've picked your source colors, mix, tint, and shade them for your full palette.
